Tubbataha reefs in the Sulu sea is a sea sanctuary protected as Tubbataha Reef National Marine Park. The reef is composed of two Atolls, the Male Atoll Atoll North and South, separated by a channel in about 5 miles (8 km) wide. This has become one of the most popular dive sites in the Philippines because of the shallow coral reef wall which abruptly ends giving way to great depth. The Park is open for live-aboard diving trips between April and June when a wave is most quiet.
